Avalanche warning for region Indre Fjordane Thursday 11.03.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

The danger increases when the wind picks up. Avoid areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Naturally triggered avalanches can occure.

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Snøoverflata ber preg av kraftig vind og mykje snøtransport av snøen som kom førre veke. Laurdag vart det transportert mykje snø i heng mot aust og sør, mens det no er pågåande kraftig vind som gjev snøtransport til leområder mot nord og vest.

Mildvêret førre helg smelta vekk mykje snø og i låglandet er det lite eller ingen snø.

Vedvarande svake lag frå kuldeperioden i januar er i stor grad nøytralisert opp til ca 1300 moh pga kraftig mildvær. Over denne høgda kan laget framleis vere eit problem nokre stadar.

Det er onsdag observert naturleg utløyste snøskred i Nordfjord og Stryn.

Det er observert stor snøfokk i fjellet pga kraftig vind fleire stadar i regionen.

10 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Storm from southeast, changing to strong breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -9 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.
